Hurumanu Digitech

Hey Bloggers

For the past few weeks we have been doing digital technology. We had to choose an issue, so I chose Environmental because there is lots of plastic in the ocean killing the sea animals. I choose this issue because I am an animal lover and I want the animals to survive and not to be extincted.

  • There is water pollution in the water there is lots of plastic and the sea turtles are thinking that the plastic is jellyfish so they eat it and then die.

  • There is ocean trash which is killing the animals that is the same is the water pollution.

  • Flooding is another problem there is lots of flooding a round the country.
What are your thoughts? I'd love to hear!

PE HURUMANU With Miss Simpson

Welcome back to my blog today we are in hurumanu PE we are with Miss Simpson. Today we are quite tired as we did the beep test.

Why do you think we do fitness? I think we do fitness to keep us fit and we can try to beat our score.

Here are all my results for what we did:

Vertical Jump
    M1:2.1
     M2: 2.3

Sit and Reach:
23

Sit Ups: 24

Grip Test: 22

Beep Test: 3.1

I think I need to work on my running as I did not pass level 5, I think I will practice running in my own time so I can beat my score.

I was working well with my group by recording down there scores.
For the beep test I was cheering on all the contestants that were still in the beep test after I gave up.  By cheering on all the girls in who were still in they probably did not get as far as they did. Tasharn made it to 7.8 which she beat her sister Tahnesha. All the girls when they past level 5 was kind of struggling but they still keep going, which was good.

What I learned:
  • In Art I learned about how to use Stop Motion and to download it to my drive it took a little long to figure it out, we then had to add our voices overtop of the stopmotion
What I enjoyed:
  • In hurumanu this term i enjoyed making clay models and getting to use something that I don't get to use everyday it is clay and an app called stop motion as i have never used it on a computer.
What I found difficult:
  • The part I found difficult was making the clay stay but i ended up making the clay stay, we had to take the picture fast so now our stopmotion is way to fast for our script.

Hurumanu - Recycling

Aim: To learn practical ways of recycling so that we can make our world a better place.

Video questions:

What has human activity done to our planet?
Created Globule Activity

What is Zero Waste?
Definition: One of the Quickest and cheapest ways a community can immediately reduce climate impact.

What stuff has a carbon footprint?
Toothbrush
Food

    What is a carbon footprint?

    What is your Carbon Footprint?

You are now going to look at your own carbon footprint by taking a questionirre. Remember to 'Add details to improve accurcay'.

Based on the questionaire what is your:

    1. Ecological Footprint
    2. Carbon Footprint

How many planets did you have?

What is your personal Earth overshoot day?

    Hurumanu Science

    Hurumanu: The Water Cycle

AIM: TO LOOK AT THE WATER CYCLE AND HOW CLIMATE CHANGE IS AFFECTING IT.

    Definition:

A green box with icons and white text. Text reads: Where is Earth's Water? 96.5 percent is in the oceans; 1.7 percent is in lakes, rivers, streams, and soil; 1.7 percent is in polar ice caps, glaciers, and permanent snow; 0.001 percent is in water vapor in Earth's atmosphere

    Scientific words:

    • Evaporation. When water is heated by radiant energy it turns into water vapor.
    • Transpiration. Evaporation from plants.
    • Condensation. When water vapor cools, molecules join together and form clouds.
    • Precipitation. When clouds get heavy the waters falls as rain, sleet, hail, or snow.
    • Acidification: the action or process of making or becoming acidic.

We will be conducting an experiment that looks at the different ways that climate change is affecting the water cycle.
An illustration of the water cycle showing how water travels from rivers and streams to clouds to snow and back again

    THE WATER CYCLE EXPERIMENT

    Bag 1: Normal Water cycle
Bag 2: Water cycle with CO2 added: like Oceans in climate change
Bag 3: Water cycle with ice added: like Antarctica in climate change

    Material:

    1.  Water/Soda Water
    2.  Bag
    3.  Food Colouring
    4.   Litmus Paper

    Steps:

    1.  Get the Marker and the Bag from the teacher
    2. Draw the water cycle on the bag
    3.  Go up to get 1 cup  of water or soda water
    4.  Put 2 drops of food colouring
    5. Hang the bag up on the window

    Two Images:

    Findings:

    The Water Cycle: Bag 1
    CO2 Water Cycle: Bag 2
    Acid
    Desert Water Cycle
    Bag 3
    Does it cycle?
    YesYesYes
    Amount of Water
    222
    Acidity
    11

Key: Water and acidity amount: 1 = none
    2 = small
    3 = large

    Other comments:

    1. Bag 1 Cycled water
    2. Bag 1 had a small amount of water
    3. Bag 1 had none Acidity
    4. Bag 2 Cycled Water
    5. Bag 2 Had a small amount of water
    6. Bag 2 had a large amount of Acidity
    7. Bag 3 Cycled
    8. Bag 3 had a small amount of water
    9. Bag 3 Had none Acidity

    Conclusion:

Bag 1  Had Cycled water, Had a small amount of water and had no Acidity.
Bag 2 Cycled water, Had a small amount of water and Had a large Acidity.
Bag 3  Cycled the water, had a small amount of water and had no Acidity.

Draw a labelled diagram of the Water Cycle

    Water cycle words:
    1. Precipitation
    2. Hurricanes
    3. Acid rain
    4. Evaporation
    5. Carbon Dioxide
    6. Water
    7. Defirestation
    8. Water vapour
    9. Transpiration
    10. Flooding

TODAY YOU WILL BE INVESTIGATING THE EFFECTS THAT CLIMATE CHANGE HAS ON THE WATER CYCLE.

    1. Using your SOLO hexagons poster write a paragraph about the different aspects of climate change.
    2. Write about the following Climate Change concepts:
You can do these by powerpoint, embedding a movie , on your blog, on a doc or any other form of presentation. It is up to you.

ACIDIFICATION: HOW DOES CLIMATE CHANGE CONTRIBUTE TO THE ACIDIFICATION OF OUR OCEANS?

    Art

Welcome back To my blog, In Art Hurumanu we have been making our clay or whiteboard drawings, My group have been making Clay animations there is 4 people in my Group DanielleShalizehJessica and I Jessica and Danielle were Finishing off out clay well Shalizeh and I were making the background for our setting. We are doing this so we can learn about Stop Motion and animations. I Like Painting and Making things out of Clay, Every time I finish off Painting our background I always Get paint on me.
